Friends and Professors

Friends

Henry - A good friend and fellow computer engineer. We powered through many classes together and several projects. Our friendship and teamwork have been key to my growth and success.

Adrian Colaianni - A good friend and computer scientist with impressive Vim skills. He inspired me to learn Vim more in-depth and use it as my primary text editor for all my computing tasks. He is experienced in software development, DevOps engineering, and cybersecurity.

Luke Smith - Excellent YouTuber who makes web and Linux tutorials, and gives talks at LinuxFest. He inspired me to make this website and I used his guides to do it.

Professors

Dr. William J. Reid III - Few professors have had an impact on me like Dr. Reid. He taught me digital logic, computer organization, systems programming, and microcontroller interfacing. He is the face of Clemson ECE and has been teaching at Clemson for over two decades. We had many talks during his office hours and grabbed lunch together a few times. He is a brilliant man who just wants Clemson electrical and computer engineering graduates to excel over those from all other schools.

Dr. Walter B. Ligon III - I had the pleasure of taking both digital computer design and programming languages and methodologies with Dr. Ligon during his last semester before retirement. He earned his degrees in computer science from Georgia Tech. He is also the vocalist and guitarist in The Hoodoo Hounds and UnderTeaux. On the last day of class before finals in programming languages and methodologies, he and a bandmate performed several songs for us.

Dr. Stephen J. Hubbard - Dr. Hubbard taught me electronics and random analysis. He is the best orator I have had. In his lectures, he uses no slides, only a blackboard, and there is a no-laptop rule, which I respect.

Dr. Harlan B. Russell - With Dr. Russell, I took data structures and algorithms. We learned this topic in the C programming language, which introduced interesting challenges and made me very proficient in using GDB and Valgrind. Working with Dr. Russell during office hours is like watching a magician track down bugs in your program. His skills in C programming, scripting, and software engineering are unmatched. He is the graduate school coordinator for the ECE department, and I continue to meet and discuss with him about pursuing my master’s at Clemson.

Dr. Carl W. Baum - Dr. Baum taught me signals, systems, and transforms. He an excellent but tough teacher, and his methods helped me learn the material well. Baum is a nice man, a fellow Carl, and a pastor at a local church where friends of mine attend. Check out his Meet the Prof page.
